Marie Olsson Nylander is an interior architect who started renovating apartments for fun, realised she was on the right path and moved on to renovating houses. Her minimal style amplified with natural elements and rustic details; the mix of clay, wood and brass with the base colors of white, gray and black – pepped up with contemporary art, industrial utensils and plants / all are dreamy. If I were to afford and be able to work with a stylist it would probably be Marie. So good and so inspiring!
Today I thought I would share with you one of my recent sketches as a fashion illustrator. This one in particular was not based on something that I have seen (consciously at least) but rather a gown I dreamt up, inspired by the seashore. I often do bridal sketches for clients, so although I could not see this as a bridesmaid or wedding dress, I definitely could imagine it residing in a sunny destination, or on the catwalk.
Martha’s Vineyard is the home to the oldest carousel in America.
My friend Kristina and I.
It is a trend there to paint the underside of your porch a Tiffany blue, or a sky blue. It is quite beautiful against the white!
Last month my husband and I took a trip to the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard. We stayed in a cute motel in Cape Cod on the mainland and then ferried over on Saturday and Sunday to visit our friends, who live in Edgartown. Here are some shots I took, although I would have loved to have got some of the lighthouses and rural areas, my camera failed me miserably!
For my sister-in-law-to-be’s bachelorette, the bridesmaids (me being one of them) and a bunch good friends rented a summer house in Blue Mountain for the weekend. Here are some snapshots of those glorious two days! We were very close to the lake and our house was situated in what felt like a forest area, right alongside a creek. It was so very beautiful!
I attended a bridal shower a couple of weeks ago that had a tea party theme. I was co-master of ceremonies with another of the bridesmaids. This is what I wore in combination with a sleek, straight pony tail (as you can see). I was inspired by Victoria Beckham’s outfit that she wore to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding. I am now simply fascinated with fascinators!
